This talisman carries an original devotional portrait of the Morrígan in Her aspect as the Great Queen, the carrier of sovereignty, the power of the land and messenger from the Otherworld. Her aspect in this portrait is inspired by the tales which tell of Her emerging from the síd or Otherworld cave at Cruachan, of Her embodiment as a spirit of the land, and of Her role in the instigation of the great war, the Táin Bó Cúailnge. On the reverse are emblazoned crossed swords and spear, over a La Tene Celtic style triskelion symbol. Encircling are Her own words, from the prophecy of peace and benediction She chants at the end of the Second Battle of Magh Tuiredh,
“Sith co nem/ Nem co doman/ Doman fo nim/ Nert hi cach”.
Its translation is “Peace up to the sky/ Sky down to earth/ Earth beneath sky/ Strength in each”.
These poetic lines speak to the restoration of peace and balance following battle, and to the peace and strength that lies within the protective and nourishing power of the land.
Morpheus designed this talisman out of her personal devotion to the Morrígan, and it is shared with you in hopes it may help you connect with Her and invoke Her great power more fully into your life and work.
Talisman is etched in 18-gauge copper. Two sizes are available – our regular 1.5″ diameter medallion, and a larger, 2″ diameter medallion, allowing for much finer detail.
Our copper talismans are hand etched in small runs with careful attention. Talismans are individually hand-detailed, so each pendant is slightly different and unique. We hang them on leather cord hand-woven into a Celtic-style knotwork ornament. The artist, Morpheus, personally consecrates all the talismans on her home altar.
