Hand cut and etched Spear talisman, with ornate La Tène style swirling ornamentation designed after an iron and bronze spearhead from Celtic Britain, a ritual water deposit found in the river Thames.
On the reverse are etched poetic lines in Ogham script:
“Am gai i fodb feras feochtu“, from the Song of Amairgen in the Lebor Gabála Éirenn, “I am the spear-point that pours forth battle.”
The Spear was one of the Four Treasures brought by the Tuatha Dé Danaan, in the Irish Celtic origin tales. Of that Spear, it was said that “No battle was maintained against him who had it in his hand.” Throughout Celtic and other warrior cultures of the ancient world, the Spear is an emblem of warriorship, ferocity, and unstoppable victorious power. Enchanted and ensouled Spears appear throughout the mythologies of these cultures, including the Spear of Lugh, the Gae Bulga of Cú Chulainn, as well as many other prominent mythic Spears in Celtic as well as Norse mythology.
We have designed this Spear talisman as an offering for anyone who wishes to bring the power of the Spear into their being.
Talisman is hand cut and etched in 18-gauge copper, about 3″ in length.
Our copper talismans are hand etched in small runs with careful attention. Talismans are individually hand-detailed, so each pendant is slightly different and unique. We hang them on leather cord hand-woven into a Celtic-style knotwork ornament. The artist, Morpheus, personally consecrates all the talismans on her home altar.
